This is an AI Rant for people who use AI, know that it can be useful, and still refuse to pretend that a better prompt is a political answer.

AI helps. That is exactly what makes the situation complicated. Usefulness is how systems spread, become normal, and eventually become infrastructure. This keynote looks behind the friendly interface and asks who owns that infrastructure, whose labor and culture feed it, who captures the gains, who carries the costs, and who gets to object when deployment is presented as inevitable.

AI literacy is increasingly treated as the answer to almost every problem around AI: teach people how the systems work, how to use them responsibly, how to check outputs, and how to keep up.

But understanding a system does not give you power over it. You can know exactly how AI works and still have no say in whether it is introduced, what happens to the productivity gains, who owns the infrastructure, or who carries the risk.

This session is about the gap between literacy and power, and why education without agency can easily become another way of teaching people to adapt to decisions already made for them.
